I’m Dr. Justin Short the founder and creator of The Lifestyle Practice. I want to show you how I can help you be more profitable, work less hours, and truly enjoy your life more!

I’ve gone from working 20 days a month to 9 days a month, while more than doubling production. I now have a dental practice that gives me the financial resources and time to do WHAT I want, with WHO I want. (Mostly my family)

Meet Derek

While in dental school, I was obsessed with learning about practice ownership. It wasn’t out of the ordinary to find me skipping class, spending time in the library reading business books, following mentors, and networking with many dentists and experts in practice management.

I created a group on DentalTown, “Ambitious Dental Students” that helped me find many other students and dentists, across the country with a similar mindset. I organized a week long trip to Breakaway Practice in San Antonio, TX. There, myself and other dentists spent our days training with Breakaway staff, learning the ins and outs of day to day tasks of front office dental employees. Three years ago I came out of dental school with 400k in student loans facing what appeared to be a saturated market with miserable insurance reimbursements. Many people warned that the best time to be a dentist was long past and that not much could be done about these problems.

I took a route unconventional to most- I purchased a practice right out of school and focusing on business leadership, communication, and clinical performance, I was able to double the previous practice production and paid off all my student loans in a year.
